Tawharanui Coastal Edge
Much like many of us who are stuck on these far flung islands I have a fascination with our coastal edge. The attached photo “Tawharanui Coastal Edge” depicts a group of young snorkelers experiencing the Tawharanui Marine Reserve.

My photo is a reminder that we can build all the tall towers we like but that everything is ultimately temporary. Here you can see part of a tree fallen from the eroding cliff-face of Mission Bay with Auckland City in the background.

What is it's potential?
This represents landscape at the edge of an urban space. It is part of a busy high street in Glen Innes yet it is abandoned. It has been many things, a green field, a house and home, a shop, a waste-space. What else could it be, what is it's potential?

Lease Expired
This landscape sits on the edge between the old and new, modern and traditional, sacred and profane. 'Lease expired' seemed a prophetic sign given its place next to an ancient pa site.

Between Us
The photograph depicts the edge between the sea and the land after dawn. Standing in between the vast flowing fabric of the sea and the dark soft land, are two humans. The juxtaposition questions the perception of scale, softness, and our existence.

Reaching for the Sky
Being physically on the edge parallel to our very own Auckland Sky Tower, it is prominent that urban built environments are constantly 'reaching for the sky', but rare for humans to break out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves.

A small stream in the Blue Springs in Putaruru, this shows the edge between water and land, yet illustrates the integration of the water flowing over and around the rocks. The contrast of dynamic flow of the water to static plants also creates an edge.
